The cheapest transport method to the stone forest (Shilin) is train. There are five trains from Kunming to Shilin a day and the ticket price is 6.5 yuan at minimum. Then, tourists can take a bus to the Naigu Stone Forest at a price of 5 yuan.

Naigu Stone Forest is located in Shilin Yi Autonomous County, about 90 kilometers from urban Kunming. October is a blooming season for coreopsis flowers and many other flowers.

A bull fighting competition will also be held from October 1 to 2 in the county.
