The first Baozhu Pear Plucking Festival will be held from September 23 to October 18 in Chenggong District of Kunming.
Bazhu pear belongs to a kind of regional specialties of the district and is popular in Yunnan. It was deemed as royal tribute to Chinese ancient emperors for hundreds of years because of its superior quality.
In the opening ceremony of the festival on September 23rd, a grand competition activity about judging the largest pear grown in the Wanxichong(万溪冲)pear orchard of the district will be organized.
The pear orchard covers at least 10,000 mu. Tourists could go there not only to pluck fresh Baozhu pears on the site, but also to taste some authentic snacks, like pea meals dressed with sauces(豌豆粉),cold rice rolls(凉卷粉),barbecue tofu(烧豆腐),8 bowls of featuring dishes in the pear orchards(梨园八碗), etc.
Self-driving route: drive until the end of Caiyun South Road(彩云南路)within the Chenggong District-turn left to Dongwaihuan South Road(东外环南路)-turn right to Shilijincheng Community-go ahead to Wanxichong Community Orchard.
Bus route: take bus No. 170 to its final stop Chenggong campus of Yunnan Nationalities University-then tranship bus No. 223 to Wanxichong Community Orchard.
