Until 2012, Kunming established 1 on-grid solar power generation project and 5 wind power generation projects with an investment of 2 billion yuan, according to municipal government.

Kunming is abundant in resources of solar energy and wind energy. In northern part of Kunming, say districts of Dongchuan, Xundian, Songming and Fumin, have separately set up a few solar energy and wind energy projects.

An amount of large-scale new energy groups such as China Guodian Corporation, China Datang Corporation, China Power Investment Corporation, and China Huaneng Group have one after another joined into the new energy investment in Kunming.

New energy management team of Kunming government states that they will create better investment environment to attract more new energy companies to develop in.
