The 2013 Kunming Seagull Festival will be unveiled on January 1, 2013 in Kunming, Yunnan Province, and will last for 10 days. It has has been considered as an unique card of Kunming since 2008. So far, the festival has been held for 5 times successfully.
Themed "rhyme of Kunming, relationship between people and seagulls", the festival aims at raising awareness of environment and animal issues existing in the society. The 10-day festival will be characterized by 9 theme activities, such as running contest, shopping street.
Moreover, the most representative cartoon image of seagull will then be selected as the mascot of the festival. And an new group dance named "Seagull style"will also be presented to add joy to the festival.
Over Tens of thousands of black-headed gulls fly from Siberia to Kunming to spend winter every year. Usually, they will stay for several months and leave for Siberia in the middle of March. The seagulls has came to here for 28 consecutive years.
