Where to go in Yunnan

December is a right season to go to Yunnan, since the climate here is nice. Where to go when you are in Yunnan, here are ten popular tourist destinations. Let's check now.  

One Lugu Lake

Located at the junction of Nilang Yi Autonomous County, Lijiang Prefecture, Yunnan and Yanyuan County, Sichuan Province, Lugu Lake is regarded as "the eastern daughters' country". Residents who remain customs of matriarchal society live surrounding the lake. Lots of visitors are attracted by the beautiful landscape of lakes and mountains and cultures of Mosuo.

Two Shangri-la

Shangri-La (Xiāng gé lí lā 香格里拉) is the "Eden in dream". Since it first appeared in British novelist James Hilton’s Lost Horizon in the 1939, it has been associated with the mystique of a place which could not possibly exist here on Earth. In Tibetan, Shangri-La means the "sun and moon in heart", an ideal home only found in heaven. There the lofty and continuous snowy mountains, endless grasslands, steep and grand gorges, azure lakes and the bucolic villages always leave a deep impression on visitors.

Three Shuhe Ancient Town

Shuhe, also "Shaowu" in Naxi language, means "the village at the foot of the high hill". It is a well-preserved example of a town along the ancient tea route and one of the earliest settlements of the ancestors of Naxi people. It is called 'the hometown of springs'.

Four Xishuangbanna

Xishuangbanna (xī shuāng bǎn nà 西双版纳), as a National Scenic Resort, is rich in nature, historical and cultural resources, noted for the multifarious folklore, rain forests, rare plants and wildlife, etc. Its major tourist attractions include Menglun Tropical Botanical Garden, Manfeilong Pagodas (Tanuozhuanglong), Jingzhen Pavilion, Wild Elephant Gully, Dai people's village at Ganlanba, etc.

Five Pudacuo

Pudacuo National Park is located in Shangri-la Town of Yunnan. With an average altitude of 3,500 meters, this park has retained well-preserved ecosystems within the virgin forests, which typically showcases a microcosm of the local ecological environment.

Six Heshun

Heshun, a townlet, featuring time-honored temples and houses, is located three kilometers away from the county seat of Tengchong, where live 6,000 people.

Seven Butterfly Spring

Butterfly Spring is known for tree wonders, namely, spring, butterfly and tree. In spring, all kinds of flourishing flowers are blooming, the silk tree aside the spring gives out quietly elegant fragrance and thousands of colorful butterflies of diverse species and in different sizes are playing around. It looks very splendid.

Eight Wetland of Beihai

Beihai Wetland Protection Zone is located in Tengchong County.

Nine Dali

Dali is a place where a lot of travelers start their dream. Roaming around streets in the old town, one is likely to be attracted by the story of the city. Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple, Dali Old Town, Erhai Lake and Butterfly Spring are must-go places there.

Ten Yuanyang Terrace

Yuanyang Terrace is located in the east mountainous area of Honghe County in southwest China's Yunnan province. Three ethnic groups, namely, Hani, Yi and Yao live here. Hani people amounts to 83% of the total population and Jiayin Village in the Jiayin Town is the largest village for Hani people.

Terrace is described as an art carved on the earth and Hani people is an ethnic group carving the earth. Hani people believe in nature, feel indebted and obedient to nature and they also treat nature well. Tens of generations of Hani people excavated hundreds of irrigation canals which are magical lifeblood of Hani people.
