A gourmet cultural festival of edible mushroom is unveiled on August 9 and will last to August 15 in Nanhua County, Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture. In the competition of selecting the King Mushroom, a series event, a tremellodon gelatinosum, weighing 17 kilogram stood out all mushrooms and was selected as the king this year.
"I have never seen a mushroom in such large size. It's rare," said Li who has engaged in procurement of mushroom for more than ten years. He was also amazed of the "winner". As a traditional event, many locals take part in the competition with their treasured mushrooms, such as lucid ganoderma, tricholoma matsutake and bolete.
In Yunnan, people can only find tremellodon gelatinosum in some areas in Chuxiong and Lijiang, thus, it is rare.
