Laomeng is a town in Jinping County, Yunnan province. Though it is less than 60 kilometers from the well-known Yuanyang Terrace, it is often ignored by visitors. Different ethnic groups and collateral series such as Miao, Yao, Hani, Dai and Yi people live there.

Every Sunday is the time for fair. Villagers living nearby buy things at the fair on that day. Women wear their unique and colorful costumes, going to the fair.

The most primitive part in the fair is people's agricultural products. Women's stalls are usually placed under the mist-shrouded mountains on Sunday. Costumes of ethnic groups are amazing color match and imagination.

As for Yi women, the most eye-striking things are two diamond-shaped embroidery curtains on a white background hung on their buttocks. Four petals with different embroidering look fine and delicate. Upper outer garment are threaded into cerise, yellow, acid blue and hotpink. Frocks with wide embroidery laces stretch into wraps. Some flowers, herbs, fish and birds that can be easily seen in the fields are embroidered on their costumes.

Miao people like wearing pleated skirt in different styles. As people said, wonders can be found in every drape of their skirts. If you plan to bring a costume of Miao ethnic group home, the accordion-pleaed skirt is a wise choice.

Things they carrying from the mountain is also colorful, pea shoots, green beans, Chinese colza, bananas, and eggs wrapped with straws. On the fair, some goods are measured by a bowl, a pile or a cluster, which is both environment-friendly and nice.
