The Kunming police cracked down 970 foreigners who were involved in illegal entry, overstaying or illegal employment in Kunming in 2010 and 2011.

"Illegal entry, overstaying or illegal employment usually result in inadequate information of foreigners' identities, which makes it easier for them to commit a crime", said Deng Wen (邓文), deputy chief in Integrated Office of Entry and Exit Administration Bureau in Kunming.

The police warns that it is against the law to fund or employ foreigners who live, work and travel illegally here. Once being found, the hiring company will be responsible for repatriation fees or punished, according to Deng. The report phone number of illegal immigration is 0871—3166191.
