“Hunting Festival” (Lieshen Festival) was held with the unveiling ceremony of a food street featuring folk style in Jiuxiang Yi and Hui Autonomous Township on March 6, in Yiliang, a county under the jurisdiction of Kunming.
Hunting is one of the main modes of production for Yi people’s ancestors. In the long history of Yi’s hunting, the worship of god of hunting has been formed gradually. Today, even though people stop hunting on the mountain, the tradition of sacrificing god of hunting has been preserved and become a traditional culture.
The “hunting festival” coincides with the food street exhibition. Covering a land of 4,974 ㎡, the 281-meter-long food street has attracted crowding tourists who have tempted by the roast ducks, chestnuts, bacon and liquor which is made from rice of Yi ethnic groups.
