There was a report about a Vietnamese boy called Dang Zijie who was abandoned by his step-mother in Zibo City, Shangdong province in June, 2010. He has lived in charity house of Zibo for more than one year and looks for his father who is likely to work in Kunming, southwest China’s Yunnan province.
Dang's story has appealed some people to help the strayed boy return home.
Dang said that he had lived in a cabin in the fields alone since he was 11. He couldn’t enjoy the family love until his father returned to Vietnam. He took care of himself and his only buddy was a buffalo. "The place I used to live is called Yasang (transliteration) or Ranransang (transliteration). It is small, but nice. There are not so many people……" when mentioning his hometown, Dang's eyes were shining.
He said that he had never seen his mother. His father told him that his mother married a Chinese guy. He didn't blame his mother for casting him away in his childhood, because his father cared him with his full heart. Several years later, his father worked out and Dang got a new "mother" when his father came back. Later, there are two more boys in his family.
Later, his father went to work in Kunming again. One day in June, 2010, his stepmother took him to a distant and strange place by train. He totally had no idea where he was because he couldn’t understand the language people speak. His stepmother grabbed his mobile phone that was given by his father. But he grabbed it back, and then he found that his stepmother disappeared.
He said his stepmother gave him RMB 100 before her disappearance. He wandered around in Zhangdian Honggou Community in Zibo City with tears filled with his eyes. He cried out "Dad". Many residents wanted to help him, but they couldn't, because they couldn't understand what he spoke except "dad". His face was full of scares with a cell phone in his hand but no SIM card in it.
What had happened to him? Some residents took him to the Police Station, but the police didn’t understand his language. He was taken to a relief station in Zibo on that night. "When he arrived, he was so feared that he curled up in a corner. When one of our workers held him, he didn’t say one word but stared at him," said a worker in the relief station.
After he arrived at the relief station, the word he mentioned most was "dad". They knew he missed his father and family.
Dang said his father might work in Kunming. In order to help him found his father, they contacted Kunming Relief Station and even some interpreters. But they couldn’t help because they didn’t understand his dialect. Thus, nobody knew where he came from.
It was his father who taught him Chinese, washed feet for him and sent him messages when he was sad……though he hadn’t spent much time with his father, he still remembered situations with his father. Here in the charity house, he got new friends and a new name. He is even able to speak fluent mandarin and write Chinese characters. But sometimes, he hides and weeps, which has confirmed work staff in the charity house to send him home before the Spring Festival.
He told the reporters that his life in the charity house was very happy, but he still missed his father. If he could find his home, he would go back, if couldn’t, he would stay in the charity house.
