Kunming Railway Bureau will launch telephone booking service for the 2012 Spring Festival travel season that is starting from January 8 to February 16, 2012.

Time: 6:00—23:00.

Tickets from 3rd day (minimum) to 12th day (maximum) and 4th day to 12th day for the 2012 Spring Festival travel season will be available for telephone booking service.

The tickets on the day and next day can be purchased at each train station or ticket outlets.

The new system allows people to reserve limit of five tickets for per order.

Meanwhile, passengers who want to ride trains have to pay attention to a new ticketing system that is scheduled to be adopted by railway authorities in Yunnan.

A real- name ticket sales system will soon be operated in 14 train stations of Yunnan, covering Kunming, Qujing, Xuanwei and Fuyuan.

The real-name system requires passengers to provide one of the 23 types of valid identification, including residence permits and passports, for buying tickets.

Previously some media reported that the Spring Festival travel rush is expected to begin from January 8 to February 16, 2012. China's railways will carry about 235 million passengers during the upcoming 40-day Spring Festival season this year, up 6.1 percent from the same period last year, according to data from the Ministry of Railways.
