Mysterious Fuxian Lake
Located on the southeast of the downtown of Kunming, Fuxian Lake spans an area of 212 square kilometers and stretches trough Chengjiang County, Jiangchuan County and Huaning County in Yunnan Province. The lake is ranked third largest in Yunnan, right after the Dianchi Lake and the Erhai Lake. The deepest part of the lake descends 157 meters, the second deepest freshwater lake in China.
The first impression for those who have been Fuxian Lake is clearness of the water. The assembling of raindrops and great numbers of underground springs have supplied Fuxian Lake with continuous water resource.
How to get there: Take the buses from Kunming to Chengjiang. It takes about one hour to get there.
Tips: The delicious local foods in Chengjiang County include the lotus roots, fish produced in Fuixian Lake, and the stewed yam and rice. When making fish dish, the fishermen usually put some spring water into a bronze pot and cook the fish for about 10 minutes and put some spices into it. The dish is very fresh and tasty.
Luchong Village
Luchong Village is on the western coast of Fuxian Lake, and it is 19 km from the downtown of Chengjiang County. A large hole was found in the scenic spot of Luchong, and the water temperature in the hole remains at about 24℃ all the year around, flowing into Fuxian Lake. During summer and fall, fishermen catch the Kanglang Fish (schizothorax taliensis) with water wheels, which presents you a spectacular view.
A hill called Beacon Hill is located in the north of the village. It gains its name from the beacon-like shape.
How to get there: You can take a minibus from the downtown of Chengjiang County, which takes 20 minutes and costs 3-5 Yuan.
Jieyushi scenic spot
Located in Haimen Village in Jiangchuan County, Jieyushi scenic spot belongs to a water outlet of Xingyun Lake. It connects Xingyun Lake and Fuxian Lake and is called Gehe River.
How to get there: You can take a coach from the East Bus Station in Kunming to Jiangchuan County. It takes about 2.5 hours and costs about 17 Yuan. Take a bus commuting Jiangcheng County to Mingxing Lake or Chengjiang County, to Jieyushi which is 19 km from Jiangchuan. The ticket price is 2 Yuan.
Mingxing Scenic Spot
Mingxing scenic spot is on the west of Fuxian Lake and on the bordering area of Jiangchuan County and Chengjiang County. Twelve km from Luchong Village, Mingxing scenic spot is well-known for its Taoism architecture. Each year March 3rd (lunar calendar) is the temple fair of Biyun Temple in Jiangchuan.
How to get there: You can take a bus from East Bus Station in Kunming to Jiangchuan County. It takes 2.5 hours and costs about 17 Yuan. You need to get off the bus after arriving at Jiangcheng County and transfer a bus to Chengjiang and get off at Mingxing. The ticket price is 3 Yuan.
Solitary Island
Covering an area of 60000 square meters, Solitary Island is the only island in Fuxian Lake. Each year on June 6 (lunar calendar), a temple fair is held on the Solitary Island.
Tips: You can take a pedal boat (20 Yuan/hour) or canoeing (80Yuan/ 2 hours for 4 people) in the Fuxian Lake.

Bus: You can take a bus at South Bus Station in Kunming to Chengjiang County. The ticket price is 17 Yuan. Then you need to transfer a bus to Luchong Village, which costs 5 Yuan.
