Nanzhao Ancient Street in Weishan Yi and Hui Autonomous County,Yunnan Province has been listed in the “China's historical & cultural streets” during the third evaluation event of the title.
Consisting of four streets, Nanzhao Ancient Street enjoyed a long history of 621 years and has preserved a relatively complete style and features of history. So far, many teahouses, local flavors,tailor shops and other traditional businesses are preserved in the street. The street features Dali traditional architecture, and has been proclaimed as a key cultural relic site under the provincial protection.
Nanzhao was a polity that flourished in what is now southern China and Southeast Asia during the 8th and 9th centuries. It was centered around present-day Yunnan in China.
The Weishan Yi and Hui Autonomous County is located in the south of the Dali Bai Autonomous Region in the west of Yunnan Province. It has a long history and numerous historic sites and scenic spots.
