4th China Int´l Orchid and Camellia Fair opened in Dali

The 4th China International Orchid and camellia Fair was opened in Dali, a county-level city in Dali Prefecture, Yunnan province, China on Feb 2, 2011. The fair is co-sponsored by Yunnan Provincial Tourism Administration, Dali government and China Flower Association.

To mark the fair, More than 10000 pots of orchid and 1000000 pots camellia from across Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, as well as overseas countries including Japan, the United States and South Korea are on display at the five-day show. Over 1 thousand varieties of orchid and 200 varieties of camellia will compete for awards.

A combination between exhibitions & sales is expected to attract public participation.Admission is free for students and the elderly with valid ID and CNY20 for others.

With the theme of “promoting orchid culture & humanities Dali”, the 4th China Int´l Orchid and Camellia Fair is expected to promote the development of culture tourism, as well as the comprehensive development of orchid business through shows and trades.

Yunnan is one of the main producing areas for orchid in China, and Kunming is well-known for exhibitions. Thus, hosted in Kunming, the 21st China Orchid Exposition is expected to be an exciting and memorable event.

The camellia is one of the ten most famous flowers in China, and ranks first among the eight most famous flowers in Yunnan. Therefore, it is honored as the City Flower of Kunming.
